Hi there.
So I am finally joining the wagon and starting a blog about my internship/summer/last semester of college.
I'm interning this summer at DIY (the Do it Yourself Network) as a Press & Editorial intern every Tuesday and Thursday. DIY is part of the Scripps Network which houses HGTV, Fine LIving, GAC, DIY, and the Food network. It's been a good experience, though much different than what I expected. My main project of the summer is to write press releases for two seasons of a TV show called Cool Tools. Every time I come in, I watch an episode, catalogue each tool used, then research to find more information and write a press release.
After 11 episodes, it's getting kinda monotonous. The worst part is my supervisors haven't read any of my work yet, so I don't know if what I am doing is on track or not. I understand that they have been super busy with budgeting and events, but I just wish I could have a tiny bit of feedback.
I have gotten to do some pretty cool stuff while interning though. My first day was spent on location of a show called Garage Mahal. That was pretty interesting. I also got to spend a lunch break previewing episodes of some Scripps Network shows and critiquing them.
In other summer news, I have been working with my dad to research possible car options for me. My sister has been in NYC all summer, so she has graciously allowed me to use her car while I look for one of my own. I still don't know for sure if I can get one, but I am trying to research them anyway. It has been lots of fun, but stressful at the same time.
I'm about to head to AE to try on all of our new jeans with Lindsay (a co-worker) and then work until close.
Over and Out.
yayy emily! i'm so glad you got a blog too.
ReplyDeleteand it sounds like you're having a good time at your internship (minus the monotonous parts). :)
